All applications for a refund must be accompanied by the required documentary evidence. Any refund approved will only be paid to the applicant. For international students, applications for a refund must be submitted on the appropriate application form and any refund approved will only be paid to the applicant, and will only be made in the student's country in Singapore dollars. The one-time registration fee is non-refundable as it is deemed to be a non-tuition fee.
Overview
The following provides guidelines for all students with regards to the refund policy and procedures. It sets out who has the authority to approve refunds, the circumstances under which it is permitted.
Categories of fee paying students
International – On shore (Self-funded Students)
Domestic Students
Circumstances under which a refund may be granted
Under the CASE Trust guidelines, the Student shall be entitled to immediately withdraw from the course by giving written notice to Soh Hair Academy of his/her intention to do so under the following circumstances:
- the PEO fails, for any reason, to commence the Course on the Commencement Date;
- the PEO fails, for any reason, to complete the Course by the Completion Date;
- the PEO terminates the Course for any reason prior to the completion of the Course;
- or the PEO is in material breach of its obligations under this Agreement.
Individual – Student Initiated
A total refund will be granted if an offer of a place is withdrawn by Soh Hair Academy. (Unless the offer was made on the basis of incorrect or incomplete information being supplied by the applicant, in which case 80% off the fee will be refunded).
A 100% refund will also occur if Soh Hair Academy is not able to provide the course for which the student has applied and/or the subject in which the student requests enrolment.
A student who is not able to obtain a Student Pass from ICA, or who does not have a Work Permit will not be permitted to enrol or re-enrol because the relevant requirements (usually terms of a conditional offer) are not satisfied.
Individual – Resolution of Grievances
A situation may arise where, as a result of a formal grievance about services rendered, the Director of the Academy will approve a course fee refund, credit to a future session or fee waiver (in full or part). An example of service failure might be an error made in a letter of offer. Such an arrangement would only be made under exceptional circumstances and in consultation with the Director, and other appropriate staff with responsibility for International students.
Where a decision is made to grant a refund course fees, payment will be made to the student by cheque drawn in Singapore dollars or will be credited back into a local bank account nominated by the Student. Students are required to sign for the refund on the forms provided. Payments will not be made to any other persons other than the student.
The refund conditions are as follows:
- 100% refund - Notice of withdrawal is given more than 60 days before the commencement date.
- 75% refund – Notice of withdrawal is given before, but not more than 60 days before the commencement date.
- 25% refund – Notice of withdrawal is given no more than 5 days after the commencement date.
- 10% refund – Notice of withdrawal is given more than 5 days after the commencement date, but not more than 7 days after the commencement date.
- No refund – Notice of withdrawal is given if more than 7 days has passed after the commencement date.
The refund request process will take the duration of no more than 14 days from the date of submission.
Special Circumstances
Circumstances are considered beyond that student's control if a situation occurs which a reasonable person would consider is not due to the student's action or inaction, either direct or indirect, and for which the student is not responsible. This situation must be unusual, uncommon or abnormal. Examples of special circumstances include but are not restricted to are death or severe medical condition changed to such an extent that he or she is unable to continue studying; employment related circumstances where a person’s employment status or arrangements have changed so that the person is unable to continue his or her studies, and this is changed beyond the person’s control.
A partial refund of course fees will be made when a student is unable to continue study due to serious illnesses. Documentary evidence is required to support their application for refund of course fees.
The refund conditions are as follows:
- 100% refund - Notice of withdrawal is given more than 60 days before the commencement date.
- 75% refund – Notice of withdrawal is given before, but not more than 60 days before the commencement date.
- 25% refund – Notice of withdrawal is given no more than 5 days after the commencement date.
- 10% refund – Notice of withdrawal is given when more than 5 days after the commencement date, but not more than 7 days after the commencement date.
- No refund – Notice of withdrawal is given if more than 7 days has passed after the commencement date.
Students may then elect to credit the full fee over to another intake for up to 6 months.
The refund request process will take the duration of no more than 14 days from the date of submission.
Notice for withdrawal must be given in writing to the Academy with supporting documentary evidence.
The refund conditions are as follows:
- 100% refund - Notice of withdrawal is given more than 60 days before the commencement date.
- 75% refund – Notice of withdrawal is given before, but not more than 60 days before the commencement date.
- 25% refund – Notice of withdrawal is given no more than 5 days after the commencement date.
- 10% refund – Notice of withdrawal is given more than 5 days after the commencement date, but not more than 7 days after the commencement date.
- No refund – Notice of withdrawal is given if more than 7 days has passed after the commencement date.
When an international student withdraws from a course, ICA Student Pass Division (Immigration Checkpoint Authority) will be advised. His/Her Student Pass will be cancelled accordingly. Student has to deliver to the PEO, within three [3] days of the Student ceasing to be a Student of the PEO, his/her passport and Student’s Pass for cancellation of the Student’s Pass.
The refund request process will take the duration of no more than 14 days from the date of submission.
Transfer
A Student who transfers from the Course to another Course with the PEO, shall, for the purposes of Clause 2 (as stated in the Standard Student Contract), be deemed to have withdrawn from the Course and the provisions of Clause 2.3 (as stated in the Standard Student Contract) shall apply save as otherwise agreed between the PEO and the Student.
A Student who defers, or takes leave of absence from the course, or recommences a course following an unapproved absence, will be subjected to the fees prescribed for the course before commencement. |
